Christmas… nightmare at Wolverhampton for Chelsea!

by

The first Premier League match played on Christmas Eve for the first time in 28 years turned into a nightmare for the Chelsea, who were beaten 2-1 by Wolves Away.

The match had dozens of good chances for both opponents, with the first half ending scoreless – thanks also to his… inspiration Sterling not to break into his two unmarked teammates in an unrepeatable four to four.

Finally, the score opened with the beginning of the second part, when o Lemina caught the header and sent the ball into the net for 1-0 in the 51st minute.

The Londoners continued to miss opportunities and finally conceded a second goal, with Doherty to show how he sealed the match with a long shot in the 3rd minute of stoppage time.

However, the “blues”… finally woke up and managed to reduce it to 2-1 with a fine header by Enkunku at 90+3′!

The Frenchman’s first goal in an official match against Chelsea revived the hopes of Mauricio Picchettino’s side, however defeat was not to be avoided, with Wolves catching the Londoners in 10th place, along with Bournemouth.

Their difference from the leading positions in Europe reaches seven points…
