In a significant change to the calendar of its 19th matchday Euroleague done by the organizing authority.
With a statement issued by the Euroleague this afternoon, it announced its final decision to change the venue for the match Fenerbahce with an opponent Maccabi Tel Aviv which was originally scheduled for January 4 in Istanbul and the “Ulker Sports Arena”.
As he typically mentions, the match will take place in Lithuania and at the “Kalnapilio Arena” of Panevezis, with the day and time of the event remaining the same.
The reason that led the Euroleague to this decision is none other than strained relations between Turkey and Israel in the last period, while the recommendations of the two states for the said match were catalytic in the final decision.
The Euroleague announcement:
“The regular season game for the 19th game of the EuroLeague between Fenerbahce and Maccabi Tel Aviv scheduled for January 4 will be played at the Kalnapilio Arena in Panevezys, Lithuania, instead of Istanbul as originally scheduled.
This decision was taken taking into account the recommendations of the government of Turkey and Israel.”
