Despite traveling to Zagreb with a young team and many changes compared to how they lined up at the Fukuoka Worlds, Hungary prevailed over Serbia with 15-14 on penalties (10-10 regular time), in a game that was a derby throughout!
The Serbs led 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 at the start of the second eight-minute period before the Hungarians rallied to hold the narrow lead until 7-6. The battle came to a head heading into the final stretch, with Serbia leading 10-9 with 1:49 to go before the final 10-10 tie came shortly after, courtesy of Vigvari.
Qualification was decided on penalties, with the ball slipping out of Radulovic’s hand, in the only loss for Serbia, with Hungary celebrating the big win!
