Rejection at the base of Palmeiras motivates Jorginho in the decision of the World Cup

Elected the best player in European football in the 2020/21 season, Italian-Brazilian midfielder Jorginho is one of Chelsea’s bets to overcome Palmeiras this Saturday (12), in the Club World Cup final.

On the eve of the confrontation, the player recalled the fact that he was rejected at the base of the alviverde team when he was 12 years old and cited this as a motivation for the decision, scheduled for 13:30 (GMT).

“And how is football, right? Today we are here playing a World Cup final. It’s ironic, and football is beautiful for that. Everything happens for a reason, and it was better that it happened. I always look for something to motivate me.” and energy to fight, and this [a rejeição] It’s one more reason,” he said.

Born in the city of Imbituba, in Santa Catarina, the midfielder ended up starting his career with the Brusque shirt, in 2006, at the age of 14. In 2008, he moved to Italy, joining Verona, the club for which he turned professional.

In addition to the personal motivation to face Palmeiras, Jorginho also showed confidence in the London team, where he has played since 2018, when he left Napoli, from Italy.

“Of course Chelsea can win the title. We just need to be focused, be humble and be well prepared to work everything. Of course it won’t be easy against this tough opponent,” he said.
