PAOK’s second defeat outside of Europe

This year’s women’s volleyball Challenge Cup for PAOK is over. The “two-header” lost 3-0 in Germany to Wiesbaden in their second quarter-final of the tournament and, combined with their defeat by the same score in Thessaloniki last Thursday, missed out on the semi-finals and will focus on domestic events.

PAOK led 17-14 in the first set, but the German women responded with a 6-0 run for 20-17. PAOK tied 23-23, but Wiesbaden with a 2-0 run brought the score to 25-23.

The loss of the first set affected PAOK who fell behind in the score with 13-7 in the second. From 17-11, the “black and white” fell to -1, but a 4-0 Wiesbaden run made it 23-19. The doubleheader went from 24-20 to 24-22, but Wiesbaden made it 25-22 and 2-0, advancing to the semifinals.

From 11-12 of the third set, PAOK with a 0-8 streak fell behind with 19-12. Darko Zakocs’ players dropped to 21-18 and 24-22, but Wiesbaden made it 25-22.
