The “bomb” has officially exploded Tasso Bakaseta to Panathinaikos!
The “clover”, after first welcoming the captain of the Hellenic national team at the airport (having been preceded by a series of… announcements on social media), announced on Monday evening (22/1) the great transfer which of course greatly upgrades the “green ” total.
It is recalled that the 30-year-old ace signed 3.5 year contract with Panathinaikos, who welcomed him into their family.
In detail, the Panathinaikos announcement:
“PAE Panathinaikos announces the acquisition of Tasos Bakaseta by transfer from Trabzonspor! The captain of the Greek national team signed a 3.5-year contract. The 30-year-old ace is a top-level reinforcement for Trefoil. With his acquisition, an even greater boost is given to the Greek element of the team.
Tasos Bakasetas was born in Petri, Corinthia on June 28, 1993. From a very young age, he pursued his dream and found himself in the academies of Asteras Tripoli. His talent shone early and before he was even 17 years old he made his debut with the Arcadian team in the Super League in a match against AEK on April 18, 2010.
In January 2011, he was loaned to Thrasyvoulos, while six months later he returned to Asteras, with whom he played for two and a half seasons, scoring his first goals in the Super League. A new loan spell at Aris followed halfway through the 2013-14 season and the following summer he returned to Asteras with whom he scored his maiden European Cup goal against Rovaniemi.
In January 2015 he was transferred to Panionios and the following season he left his mark in the Greek league by scoring 11 goals with the Reds. His outstanding performances attracted the interest of the greats of Greek football and he was finally acquired by AEK in the summer of 2016. He played with the Union for three seasons, playing a leading role in winning the championship in the 2017-18 season with six goals and six assists.
The next stop of his career was the Turkish Alanyaspor, with whom he shone from the summer of 2019 and for a year and a half, scoring 21 goals and providing 12 assists. His impressive presence in the Turkish Super League prompted Trabzonspor to spend around three million euros to make him theirs in January 2021.
As it turned out, he struck gold as the arrival of the Greek midfielder changed the course of the club’s modern history from Trebizond. In the 2021-22 season led by Bakaseta, who scored eight goals and provided four assists, Trabzonspor became Turkish champions after 38 years and also won the Turkish Super Cup in 2022.
The following season Bakasetas was again outstanding with eight goals and five assists, which earned him a place in the top eleven of the Turkish league. He closed his successful cycle in Trabzonspor – after three and a half years – with 33 goals and 24 assists in 122 appearances.
Of course, Tasos is the leader and cornerstone of the Greek National Team. He has worn the jersey with the national emblem 63 times, scoring 13 goals and 9 assists. He was an international from the small national teams, being, among other things, a key figure in the course of the Youth National Team until the final of the European Championship in 2012.
In total in his career he has scored 109 goals in 484 appearances at club and national team level.
