The first meeting of the FIBA ​​Players Committee with Zisi and Nowitzki

THE Players Committee opened the new 2023-2027 basketball cycle with a highly productive kickoff meeting at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball.

The 16 members of the panel made up of current and former players from around the world gathered, either in person or online some of them, at the FIBA ​​headquarters led by the president Dirk Nowitzki. The German NBA legend continues in the role of president of the players’ committee for a second term, while the deputy president, Serbian star Sonia Vasic, was also present.

In the meeting, which was attended by the general secretary of FIBA, Andreas Zagli, a wide range of topics were discussed which included the updated FIBA ​​Strategy, its seven major goals, the role of the Players Committee and the calendar, including 3×3. During the new 2023-2027 cycle, the Commission will once again undertake specific and important areas of activity around Player Education and the Athlete Experience Program during competitions, which was a key objective of FIBA ​​during World Cup in the Philippines.

FIBA Players Committee Chairman Dirk Nowitzki said: “It is always exciting to be here at the beginning of a new chapter and knowing that the Players Committee is ready to continue to work and increase its positive influence on many important aspects of our sport. The tasks of the FIBA ​​Players Committee are many and important. They include the study of topics related to athletes of all age groups. It has a role to propose to the Central Council the necessary measures to improve the conditions in which the players compete… It has a responsibility to protect their development, both as athletes and as role models for others, by making recommendations about practices or activities that are likely to affect the interests of the players. And of course to offer comments and advice for possible improvements in the various FIBA ​​competitions.
