Legendary game in Barcelona with Villarreal to “torpedo” her Barcelona and send Xavi’s team to the bottom!
Only a few days after painful exclusion from Athletic Bilbao in the quarter-finals of the Spanish Cup, the “Blaugrana” suffered another setback, losing this time to incredible 5-3 from Villarreal to the “Olympic Stadium” for the 22nd matchday of La Liga!
In a match that will be remembered for years, the Catalans initially found themselves with their backs against the… wall (0-2), they brought somersaults the situation with an improbable come back within a quarter of an hour (60′-70′) for the 3-2however, the “yellow submarine” with a reversal in the… reversal and two goals after the 9th minute of stoppage time (!) got a historic victory!
THE Barcelona may have had possession and initiative in the first half, however, with the exception of Joao Felix’s effort in the 15th minute, he did not create any other good moments in front of the opposition goal. A goal which seemed to “wake up” the Catalans, who immediately reduced the score with Gundogan (60′), even bringing the match to level eight minutes later with Pedri!
In the 71st minute, Xavi’s team turned the tables with the Baggi’s own goal for 3-2, showing how he is going for a big win. Nevertheless, the guests had not said their last words!
Villarreal did not “chew” from the turn the game took, directly pressuring the opposing defense for the equalizing goal. A finish which they found in the 84th minute with the newly acquired player Guedes for the 3-3! A development which was clearly seen to have cut the “wings” of the Barca players, who were “anarchically” trying to get the victory.
Thus, the “yellow submarine” found the spaces in the open field, hitting bis in the 9th and 12th minutes of stoppage time with Sherloth and Morales respectively, celebrating a great and historic victory over Barca!
