Rico: “Football saved my life, I feel lucky to be alive – I shouldn’t go over 130 beats per minute”

THE Sergio Rico stayed for 26 days in a coma after an accident he had while riding last May, he had to stay for almost twelve weeks in the hospital before being discharged and seeing life itself give him a second chance!

The Spanish goalkeeper spoke once more about him nightmare he lived revealing how the football and the his physical condition it was through sports that she saved him.

“The truth is that I owe everything to football. It’s my whole life. A doctor told me that my arteries were more durable than a normal person who doesn’t exercise as much as I do. I feel very lucky to be alive, because it was a very serious accident and my life was at stake.”initially reported and added that:

“When I woke up from the coma I asked the doctor if I could play football again. He was surprised because I had a serious accident, but he said yes. I was so relieved I almost jumped out of the hospital bed.

Life is very important. Nobody wants to die, but if I had to retire from football, I wonder would it be worth it? When I was in the hospital I had a dream in which I saw my father on the other side of a road. It was very emotional and it clearly showed me that my time was not over.”

Regarding her recovery he declared to him that he was doing very well, citing a miracle of medicine and his faith:

“I have regained my weight. The doctors warned that there might be a risk to my balance, but it’s perfect. It’s a miracle I’m so well. I should not exceed 130 heartbeats per minute. But I will do my best and not cross that line.”
