THE Olympic faces Sunday night (04/02, 21:00, COSMOTE SPORT 1 HD, sport-fm.gr, News Bulletin 247) Panathinaikos in Leoforo for its 21st matchday Stoiximan Super League.
In view of this match, o Santiago Ese talked about what the “red and whites” should do differently compared to the previous “eternal” derbies, about the changes in his era Carlos Carvalhal but also for the position he prefers.
In detail what he said:
On what Olympiacos should do differently to celebrate this time: “I think the only thing that matters about the previous ones is that we now know each other very well and how each team plays. Otherwise it is a completely different game and the only thing that matters is that we are well prepared and play a good game. We really want to win the three points and that’s what we’re working for.”
As for whether he considers it final: “All the games for us, especially from now on, are very important. We have realized that we have to win it all. Yes, this game is very important because, among other things, it is also a derby and we know how much our people want us to leave victorious. However, all the matches for us from now on are extremely important and that’s why we have to be calm and focused so that we do what we have to do and win.”
About what the new coach has changed: “It is logical that all coaches work and want to offer things. This is happening now and our new coach really offers a lot to the team and to me and my teammates. As for me, sometimes he asks me to play a little further up the field, but in the last two he wanted me closer to the defense, depending on who is next to me. The advice is useful and we all try to do what he asks of us and it shows in the last results.”
For the position he prefers to fight: “I prefer to play in the ‘6’ position, but I can perform well wherever my coach asks me to play. It depends on the plan the coach has in each game and what he thinks about each position. I always follow the advice and instructions of the coach to be able to offer the team from any position needed”.
