The justification of referees Spyrou Gonda and Giannis Foufis in their lawsuits against the EEC, the KED and personally against the then members of the Central Arbitration Committee (Symeonidis, Koromila, Tavoularea, Papadopoulos), but also the former president of the federation George Vasilakopoulos, decided the civil courts.
The two referees (s.s. Gondas has retired due to age), as well as other colleagues who subsequently withdrew the lawsuit, had taken legal action against him. two-year ban due to their participation in the Euroleague. They were initially acquitted in 2019 by ASEAD and appealed to the civil courts. Their exclusion from the referee’s boards was considered illegal and abusive, without justification.
The decision also states the following: “By the aforementioned illegal and culpable behavior, the defendants insulted the personality of the plaintiff and caused him moral damage, for the restoration of which he must be awarded monetary satisfaction.”
According to information, the amount they are called to collect as lost profits, amounts to 50 thousand Euros for each referee. The money will have to be paid by the former members of KED / EEC, otherwise they will demand it from the new administration.
