Even and always… involved Volos and Panaitolikos!

by

No winner his match is over Volos by Panetolicowho were held to a 1-1 draw at Panthessalikos for their 21st matchday Stoiximan Super Leaguein a match where each team had its good time, but could not get the “three points” that would give it breathing room in the effort to stay in the division.

Agriniotes opened the scoring in the first good chance of the match in the 8th minute with Sengeliawhile from that point on until the end of the first part o Volos was superiorequalized in the 15th minute with Garcia, with Myga being particularly mobile with many promotions. In the first minutes of the second half, Panaitolikos entered with momentum, but did not find the moment that would lead him to the goal, and then the home team equalized the situation, with the two teams staying at an equal score.

So the Marble remained in 11th place with 16 points and is +4 behind Kifissia and PAS who have less matches, while the team of Yiannis Petrakis is in 12th place with 15 points and +3 from the relegation zone.

In the minds of the coaches:

Angel Lopez lined up Volos with a 4-2-3-1 formation. In the goal Kovacs with Myga on the left end of the defense and Alhos on the right, while Aslanidis and Kalogeropoulos were in the stopper positions. In the midfield, Glavcic and Barrientos, with Koba ahead of them and Deletic on the right “wing” and Asenun on the left. At the top of the attack, the 31-year-old Argentine, Garcia, was chosen.

On the other hand, Yannis Petrakis chose a 3-5-2 system for Panaitolikos. Stergiakis was under the posts, with a trio of Oikonomou, Mladen and Mali in defense, while Mavrias played the role of right back-half and Torrejon played left. Peres, Liavas and Hatzitheodoridis were in the center and Karelis and Sengelia took the starting jersey in the attack.

The match:

The pace is fast at the start of the match, with both teams building tension and Panaitolikos being much more aggressive in his marking. Indicative, isn’t it, that Sengelia saw the yellow card just in the first 20 seconds for hard marking on Koba.

In fact, in the first good moment of the game, Agriniotes managed to open the score! In the 8th Liavas started the phase and on the right Mavrias with a smart move freed up space for Sengeliawho scored 1-0 with an excellent left-footed shot, for his second goal in this year’s championship.

From that moment on, Volos became more mobile and had the initiative of the match with Asenun at 11′ to take a cross-shot, but Stergiakis came out and cleared. A minute later (12′) Mladen took the header for the visitors, which went wide and in the 15′ Angel Lopez’s team brought the game into balance! Nice effort by Myga, who passed two opponents and made a diagonal shot from inside the area, with Stergiakis parrying, but the Garcia he was in the right spot and scored 1-1 with his knee.

The phases in the two hearths decreased for about 10 minutes, while in the 31st minute Fly he managed to cut Karelis before shooting in the area and later in the phase Liavas tried the shot, but Kovacs blocked. In the 35th Fly, who was the home team’s best player in the first half, produced another fine effort, shooting from long range, but saw the ball go just wide of Stergiaki’s crossbar. Thus, the last moment of the first half happened at 45+1′ with Karelis executing from outside the area, the ball was countered with Kovacs barely touching it, sending it to a corner and 1-1 was the score in the first 45 minutes.

The second half started with Panetolico to enter with momentum and take the initiative of the movements on the pitch: he quickly recovered the ball, pressed high, but missed the opportunity that would have led him to the goal. Thus, Volos took measures and in the 68th minute had the best moment of the second half: Popescu took the cross, with Stergiakis making a misplaced exit and Moraitis he took the header, but the ball was countered and Oikonomou kicked for a corner.

There were no dangerous situations in the two home teams, with Myga taking the header undisturbed in the 80′, however, it was weak and Stergiakis had no problem clearing. Lopes and Petrakis made several changes, with those of the Greek technician showing that he played his spare parts to find the winning goal. The Agriniotes tried through some static phases to look threatening and that’s how Liava’s shot came in the 89th minute which was blocked by Kovacs. In the minutes of stoppage time, neither of the two teams found the big moment to get the “three points” and in this way came the final 1-1 for Volos and Panaitolikos.

MVP: THE George Mygas he was outstanding in what was probably his best game of the season. The goal of the equalizer with Garcia for Volos came from his feet, he had many advances offensively, creating problems in the defense of Panaitolikos. At the same time, he was also solid in his defensive duties, with 8/15 duels won and 2/2 aerial duels in a thoroughly “full” performance.

The “whistle”: THE Maluta he managed a game with a lot of marking and duels quite well, he didn’t have a difficult phase and he gets a good mark for his refereeing.

Volos (Angel Lopez): Kovacs, Alcho, Aslanidis, Kalogeropoulos, Mygas, Glavcic (81′ De Camps), Barrientos (57′ Tsokanis), Koba (64′ Moraitis), Asechnoun, Deletic (57′ Popescu), Garcia (81′ Bertoglio).

Panaitolikos (Yiannis Petrakis): Stergiakis, Mladen, Oikonomou, Malis, Mavrias (57’Bakakis), Torrehon, Peres (70’Tsingaras), Liavas, Hatzitheodoridis (84’Huanpi), Karelis (84’Joao Pedro), Sengelia (84’Dias).
