Stay in the A1 men’s table tennis with a shocking final for Elefsina

Ifitos Patron and GAS Elefsis took the first place in the barrages that took place at the weekend in the federal hall of SEF, but, especially for Elefsina, the realization of the goal came with a shocking finale and an incredible upset.

In the second match she lost 3-2 sets from Aris Nikaia and seemed to be led to relegation, in the last match she lost 2-0 sets from Ifitos and finally, “turning” the situation to 3-2 in her favor, she was favored in a triple tie and left the team of Nice in A2.

In the women’s A1, it was formally finalized that DAO Tavrou stays last and goes to the barrages with XANTH next weekend.

The A1 and A2 men’s barrages had great emotions for one of the two privileged positions and, unfortunately, due to the protocol, there were no spectators to experience them. At noon on Sunday, Aris Nikaia defeated Elefsina in an exciting match 3-2 sets and celebrated intensely, considering that it would not lose the rise…

In the third match, Elefsina fought with Ifitos and the difference, generally in the playoffs, was made the main weapon of Patras, the four-time European champion of the double mixed Aleksandar Karakasevic. The Serbian international, however, did not have the opportunity to stay throughout the match and finally the fact that he was substituted after the 2-0 to prevent the return flight, was crucial for the reversal.

Ifitos had secured his goal from 1-0 and wanted to reach the first of the draws undefeated. Elefsina with any winning score would be superior in the tie with Aris. Ifitos replaced Karakasevic after the second match, as required by the rules, and the athlete left SEF with the permission of the referee.

At the table, a terrible match followed, Elefsina was effective in all critical points and celebrated the great victory, which kept her in A1.

In the A1 national women’s category, AEK defeated DAO Tavros on Saturday at SEF with a 3-2 set in the postponed match of the 14th and last match. Thus, the finals, which are to take place next weekend, go from A1, the sixth in the XANTH rankings, to the seventh DAO in Tavros.

AEK finished in fifth place with 16 points. Pera’s scoreless match with DAOT, which has been postponed twice, remains and will take place this week.

Two presidents of federations at SEF

A summit was held in the federal hall. The president of EFOEPA and former leader of our national team, Costas Papageorgiou, was at SEF and had the opportunity to talk with Aleksandar Karakasevic, with whom they have recorded years of joint presence in major international events.

The four-time European double mixed champion continues his action at the age of 46 and strengthened Ifitos Patras in the effort to stay in the A1, but at the same time he is also the president of the Serbian Table Tennis Federation in recent years.
