It is a day of awareness for the needs of children suffering from cancer, dedicated to those children who now face cancer with courage and bravery, to those who have recovered, but also to those who are no longer with us.

On behalf of the parents and children of Flame, the Panhellenic Association of Parents of Children with Neoplastic Disease, we would like to thank the Super League for its long-term and multifaceted offer.

Every year, he is by our side, strengthens us morally and materially and strengthens our voices. Together we convey the most powerful and essential message: “Childhood cancer CAN be cured”.

World Childhood Cancer Day aims to inform and raise awareness of the wider social environment about the needs of children with cancer and the importance of early diagnosis.

It is estimated that, in the world, Every year, 250,000 children get cancerof which only 20% have access to proper medical care.

80% of them come from developing countries, where there is no possibility of diagnosis and proper treatment.

Over 150,000 deaths each yearcould have been avoided, if early diagnosis and specialized treatment was possible in all children.

In our country it is estimated that every year 280 – 300 children get sick.

80% of them, with specialized treatment, win the battle for life.

There is no prevention for childhood cancer, however early diagnosis leads to cure for most children.

That is why special importance must be given to:

· Training health professionals to be able to diagnose the disease early and

· Correct information of the parents, so that they can be addressed in time to the pediatric hospitals.

The “Flame” and “Shine” Associations

are next to families, share their fears and anxieties and support their struggle in every way.

They try to properly inform the public about childhood cancer and dispel prejudices.

Childhood cancer can be cured!

Children have the right to proper medical care, regardless of their national, social or economic status!

Children with cancer need us all!
