Rony and Raphael Veiga scored again this Wednesday night (10), but it was Gustavo Scarpa who was the highlight of Palmeiras’ victory over Atlético-GO, by 4 to 0, at Allianz Parque, for the 31st round of the Brazilian Championship.

The midfielder made a pass for the first goal, noted by Veiga, then put the ball over Ron’s head in the second and even capped the good performance by leaving his on the scoreboard, with a penalty — the waiter alviverde now has 20 assists this season. Breno Lopes closed the account.

It was the sixth straight victory of Abel Ferreira’s team at Nacional. Now, with 58 points in the vice-leadership, the team managed to prevent Atlético-MG from expanding its lead in the competition — earlier, the miners beat Corinthians, 3-0, at Mineirão, and reached 68 points.

With seven rounds from the end of the championship, however, it is very difficult for Alviverde to reduce this difference in order to keep the Brazilian title.

But by keeping this dream alive, the Palmeirenses are achieving a good streak in the competition, which could be important for the team to arrive even more motivated in the decision of the Copa Libertadores, against Flamengo, in a single game, on the 27th, in Uruguay.

With 17 days to go before the continental final, Palmeiras demonstrates something that was demanded of Abel Ferreira: good alternatives in attack, which they have been able to show above all with the use of Scarpa, Rony and Veiga.

After a brief initial pressure from Atlético-GO, which wasted a very clear chance at 4 minutes, when Ronald missed a shot face to face with Weverton, Veiga opened the scoring ten minutes later, at 14. the midfielder was served by Scarpa, who pulled the counterattack before handing the ball to his teammate.

At 32, it was Ron’s turn to expand, again with the participation of the shirt 14, who took the free kick on the attacker’s head.

In the complementary stage, Scarpa made the third penalty, at 19, in an infraction marked by the referee Anderson Daronco after consulting the VAR and noticing a hand touch by Marlon Freitas. Before the end, Breno Lopes scored the fourth after a pass by Dudu, at 44.

The good performance was attended by 19,165 people at the Allianz Parque, which had 100% of the bleachers released to fans for the first time during the Covid-19 pandemic, following the flexibility protocols of the São Paulo government.

Palmeiras will return to the field on Sunday (14), when they will face Fluminense, at 18:15, in Rio, for the Brazilian Championship.
