Panathinaikos “shortened” Panathinaikos and Kifisia left Leoforos with a point!

by

His new laugh Panathinaikou in the championship after Lamia, as it came in a draw 1-1 with the Kifissia at “Apostolos Nikolaidis”, for the 24th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League.

The “greens” had again bad picture and appeared to “block” the northern suburbs team’s style of play, however they took the lead with his seventh goal of the season Palasios in the 37th minute.

But they succeeded to… knock them all down in four minutes in the repetition, when the Schenkefeld dismissed with direct red in 64′, while o Arao with own goal in the 68′ he shaped… prematurely the final result, after they looked shell-shocked from that point onwards.

Earlier, in the 59th minute, they had Palasios’ goal correctly disallowed, while Botia could have been sent off too, for the elbow he threw at Ioannidis before being replaced due to injury in the same phase, with Bifuma to have beam in the first minute of delays!

Now, Panathinaikos fell to Third Place, with 52 points and welcomes Aris next Wednesday (28/02). Kifissia remained tail of the standings, but having 17 points like Volos and midweek plays in Tripoli against Asteras.

In the minds of the coaches:

THE Panathinaikos lined up with seven changes, in formation 4-3-3 and Lodingin under the goalposts. While Vaiannidis, Senkefeld, Arao and Mladenovic made up the quartet in defense. Ruben, Kotsiras and Bakasetas were the three of the axis, with Palasios-Limnios at the ends and Ioannidis at the top of the attack.

THE Kifissia on the other hand it “went down” with a system 4-2-3-1, Anagnostopoulos in goal and Teixeira, Botia, Tsapan and Milisevic four at the back. Pritsas-Tsanatzia were the two “cutters”, with Barbosa-Menendes competing on the “wings” and Klonaridis behind center forward Ozegovic.

The match:

Panathinaikos started with the… recipe of home matches against a theoretically smaller opponent: very pressingly, taking possession with good morning and looking for the quick goal which always helps in these situations.

With Kifissia playing behind the ball, with its lines closeclosing the spaces well, but also showing the willingness to threaten with some quick transition.

The first dangerous phase of the “greens” came in the 5th minute, with Limnio to take a diagonal shot outside the area and to the left, but the ball goes over the bar.

A double good moment followed with Ioannidis and Palasios in the 15th minute and the away team having a forced change in stoppers but to gradually find a way to “cage” the “greens”, who seemed very static and could not get cooperation.

A… crafty, low, direct free-kick by Bakaseta in the 22nd minute was unable to beat Anagnostopoulos. In fact, a quarter of an hour had to pass for the next phase on the part of Panathinaikos… With Kotsiras taking the cross to Ioannidis, who shot but under pressure from Botias, missing the opportunity to open the scoring.

Kifisia deservedly came close to 0-1 four minutes later. When Barbosa turned from the left, Arao blocked Ozegovic’s cross just outside the small area, sending it into the corner…

In the next phase, it was 1-0, after Ioannidis’ nice vertical pass for Palasiosthe second entered the area from the right and with a diagonal shot he sent the ball to the opposite corner of Anagnostopoulos, in the 37th minute!

The newly-enlightened side had the last notable phase of the first half in stoppage time, with Barbosa’s long-range shot going wide of Lodingin’s goal.

In the second half, the picture was more or less the same, with the hosts being the ones who, despite struggling, reached the goal first. Just before the hour mark, Palasios scored, but to be uncovered and his second today’s goal not to be secured…

Palasios starred in the next good moment for Panathinaikos, two minutes later, but Vafeas… took the bite out of Limnios’s mouth, sending it to a corner.

Finally, after it did not become 2-0, the match turned within four minutes and became 1-1: initially with the dismissal of Schenkefeld for a foul on Tetei, in the 64th minute. Subsequently, from Arao’s own goal, in his attempt to head Milisevic’s cross!

In fact, in the immediately preceding phase, Milisevic went to beat Lodingin with a direct free kick, only for Arao to intervene and lead to the… ultimately fatal corner.

From then on, the “clover” suffered… blackouts, every shot was missed and the need for 2-1 led to changes that also brought about defensive gaps. Gaps that Kifissia did not take advantage of, after Lodingin impressively saved Milisevic’s shot in the 76th minute.

With the entry of Geremegev-Mancini, at that point, Panathinaikos played… 4-1-4 and full attack. He saw Geremegev steal the ball, pass vertically to Ioannidis who entered the area, shot with power, only for Anagnostopoulos to chase away for a corner, in the 85th minute.

In fact, in stoppage time, the team from the northern suburbs almost… dried him up, as Bifuma went quickly on the counter-attack, came out four-four with Lodingin who managed to save with the help of the beamfor Hugo to come and drive on the line, keeping it 1-1 until the end!

MVP: From his feet Ivan Milisevic they passed several “set” balls while he was the one who also participated in the equalizing phase for the guests. In general, he had good contact with the ball while he fought in the axis and helped in the defensive part as well.

the “whistle”: Referee Evangelou had a lot of work, who whistled quite a bit, but this was not decisive. He disallowed Palacios’ goal after the VAR alert, sent off Senkefeld with a straight red, both correctly. Possibly he should have done the same, as he might, in the case of Botias.
