It has caused strong reactions in Saudi Arabia Cristiano Ronaldo’s obscene gesturewhen Al-Shabaab fans started chanting “Messi, Messi” to annoy the Portuguese star.
As the local newspaper “Asharq al-Awsat” reports, the Saudi Arabian federation has launched an investigation into the incident, which, however, was not recorded in the live broadcast.
“This is the biggest test of the disciplinary committee. Everything has a limit no matter how famous you are. This is how the major leagues are supposed to work” commented the presenter Waleed Al Farraj in a post on X.
The disciplinary committee is said to be facing a major test, with no official response from the federation yet.
Al Nasr, Ronaldo’s club, has yet to make any official statement regarding the investigation.
It is worth noting that last year something similar happened to the Portuguese in Saudi Arabia, when he was seen touching his genitals after a league defeat by Al-Hilal. Last month, he was found picking up a thrown Al Hilal scarf, tucking it into his shorts and then throwing it away.
