How dreamlike – and at the same time… scary for opposing defenses – duo they are, proved the Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.
This time, of course, to an extreme degree, contributing the most to the collapse of the Manchester City her defense Luton.
Specifically, the “citizens” were competing in the city of the same name for the round of 16 of the FA Cup and in 55′ they had already scored four goals (2-4).
“Minor” detail? That all four goals were created by assists from the Belgian artist and had the Norwegian “killer” as the scorer!
In fact, after three minutes (58′) Haaland also succeeded fifth goal (making it 2-5), this time of course with an assist from Bernardo Silva. Thus, he became the first player in 54 years to – playing for a top division team – achieve 5+ goals in an FA Cup match. The last one to do it was the legendary one George Bestwho on February 7, 1970 had scored six goals and had led Manchester United to a wide away victory (2-8) against Northampton for the 5th round of the competition.
For the record, City were stopped at six goals, of course securing their qualification to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
