Tsitsipas comfortably in the “16” of Acapulco

by

Stefanos Tsitsipas entered the Acapulco 500 tournament with his right hand.

The Greek champion prevailed 6-3, 6-4 (in one hour and 20 minutes) against Russian Roman Shafiulin (No.39) and qualified for the round of 16 of the Mexican tournament.

Tsitsipas had 5 aces in the match, 83% first serve won despite a mediocre 53% first serve passed. At the same time, he had 14 winners and a limited number of mistakes, in a perfect performance.

In the 2nd round of the tournament, the Greek champion will face world No. 69, Flavio Kompoli, who beat Felix Ozer Aliassim 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the early hours of Tuesday.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, a 2021 finalist, will take a few breaths and shortly return to compete in the doubles with his brother, Petro, and opponents Julian Cash (UK) and Robert Galway (USA).
