Virgil, the “good giant” of the American cat, died at the age of 61 on Tuesday.

Virgil, whose real name was Michael Jones, died in hospital on Tuesday.

According to the Daily Mail, he suffered several strokes a few weeks earlier, while facing serious health problems, and has been a shadow of his former self for years.

For eight years Virgil played in the WWF (World Wrestling Federation – now World Wrestling Entertainment) the secretary and bodyguard of “The Million Dollar Man” Ted di Biasi.

He was diagnosed with dementia in April 2022 before being diagnosed with stage two colon cancer a month later.

His death was announced via Facebook by wrestling referee Mark Charles III.

Reacting to the sad news, WWE’s official X account tweeted: “WWE is saddened to learn that Michael Jones, known to WWE fans as Virgil, has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Jones’ family, friends and fans.”

Former wrestlers who knew Jones, such as Jake Roberts and Brutus Beefcake, as well as celebrities, expressed their grief over his death on social media.
