Bayern Munich beat Red Star and kept their hopes alive for the 8th place!

With a defense of… steel, the Bayern bent him Red Star in Munich with a score 74-66 for the 27th matchday of the Euroleague, staying alive in the hunt for the 8th place!

Having the upper hand on the scoreboard from the end of the first period until the finale, Pablo Lasso’s side did not face much trouble, thus reaching the 12th win of the season (12th place), -1 from the top 10 and -2 from the top eight.

Leading for the winners was Devin Booker with 22 points and 6 rebounds, while Ibaka also provided valuable help. For his team Yannis Sfeiropoulou which fell to 16th place and 10-17, Smart led the way with 13 points.

The match:

THE Red Star entered the game more strongly and “hitting” the racket early on, led 9-4 and a little later with 14-6 at 4′. With the defense working brilliantly and Dos Santos finding a three-pointer from long range, the Serbs went +9 (10-19) at 6′. Somewhere there, however, Yannis Sfairopoulos’ team suffered “black out”as a result of which he remained scoreless for 4 minutes (!), something that Bayern Munich took advantage of, and ended the first quarter in front with 20-19!

With the momentum and mentality on their side, the Bavarians continued to widen the gap, despite the fact that both teams were extremely wrong in the second period. With Brankovic and Edwards getting their first points of the match, the Germans went to the locker room ahead of score 32-27.

Pablo Lasso’s team continued to control the pace of the match and in third period, where at the beginning of the quarter they succeeded and raised the difference to double digits for the first time (40-29). Boloboi and Nedovic “nibbled” the difference to 5, however, the Serge Ibaka and Devin Booker they gave valuable solutions to the hosts, who ended the quarter at +7 for 53-46.

At the beginning of the fourth and final period, the Serbs reduced to 2 (53-51), a counterattack that was not countered after it was stopped in the middle. And that’s because Bayern, with three consecutive three-pointers from Bolmaro and Bonga, escaped again to +11 (68-57) in the 37th minute, thus comfortably reaching the pink match sheet with final 74-66.
