“Whoever loses the ball is…”: Thirty years since Real’s Floro’s infamous outburst was filmed!

by

The 1993/94 season was not the best in its history Real Madridwho had only won the Spanish Super Cup and had failed to qualify for the league, Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup.

On March 6, he had suffered a humiliation defeat, 2-1, by newly enlightened Geidaa match that was also his last Benito Floro on the “queen’s” bench.

The Spaniard was removed the next day not only for the defeat but also for the his controversial outburst in the dressing room during half time, which was secretly filmed and broadcast by Canal+ the next day!

The recording of the material in the dressing room had also caused reactions, with the reporter, Nico Abad, accidentally discovering a door leading to the away team’s dressing room and going there with the cameraman when the first 45 minutes had ended with the “meringues” behind in the score.

Behind a door, the duo recorded Floro’s outburst below:

“Where are your a@@@s, quality and will to play? I said, anyone who loses the ball is a loser. All balls and nothing else, the rest is bullshit. One day one, one day another, but I see… Where is the team? Fuck the ball and the bullshit. Wow, you’re Real Madrid, guys! So many souls, so much care, so much for the team.

It’s all about you, what the hell! Suffer, damn you, win without excuses. Do whatever you want out there but win, c@@o! How can you be a soccer player and not take the shot while suffering? How does a Real Madrid player do that? A team that last year played in the second division. We c@@@e them with our p@@@i. God, have you no shame? Damn it”.

“I was praying that no one would see us” Abad would later say, with the assistant of Floro to have commented on the fact that “I will not say who I think did it, I will remain silent. And I have no idea what it might have been but it was a clear violation of our privacy.”

The 72-year-old today Floro would return after a decade but in a different position at Real, but March 6, 1994 would forever mark his career – even if the Canal+ reporter and cameraman had done… .
