EPO: Presentation of the Women’s Football Strategic Plan

The Hellenic Football Federation presented in St. George Lecabettus the Women’s Soccer Strategic Plan. The event was attended by representatives of FIFA and UEFA, representatives of the Women’s National Teams and other people in the field.

More specifically, the event was attended by the president Panagiotis Baltakos and the executive director of the EPO Iakovos Filippousis, the president of the Superleague, Minas Lyssandrou, the technical director of the National Teams, Kostas Konstantinidis and the president of the newly established Women’s Football Association, Antonis Kiurexidis.

The world and European federations were represented by FIFA representative Lorenzo Cavallari, Elkhan Mammadov, Europe Director of FIFA, UEFA Managing Director of Women’s Football, Nadine Kessler and Anne Noe, member of the FIFA Women’s Football Expert Group.

From the National Teams, the National Women’s coach Alexandros Katikaridis and the captain Eleni Kakaboukis, the international players Beatriki Sarri, Anastasia Spyridonidou and Hara Dimitriou, the assistant coach Katerina Tsiapanou and the goalkeeper coach Lambros Spintzos attended the presentation of the Strategic plan. The coach of the Junior and Girls National Teams, Giorgos Papakostas, was also present, as were other people from the field.

The president of E.P.O. Panagiotis Baltakos who took the floor first referred to the moves that have been made so far and also emphasized that women’s sports began in ancient Sparta and it would be absurd in Greece for women’s football not to be at a high level, which is why the efforts will continue and he thanked the representatives of FIFA and UEFA.

Elkhan Mammadov, FIFA’s Europe Regional Director, then took to the stage, who thanked the Hellenic Football Federation for the invitation and emphasized the World Federation’s support for the efforts made by EPO for women’s football.

“I am very happy to be here to celebrate this great day together and lay the foundations for the development of women’s football“, said Nadine Kessler, UEFA Managing Director of Womens Football, a former European champion with Germany and holder of three Champions Leagues, among other accolades as a player.

Anne Noe, Member of FIFA Women’s Football Expert Group, referred to the excellent cooperation she had with the executives of the Hellenic Federation in the last two years and gave her wishes for the development of women’s football in our country.

The leader of the Women’s National Team, Eleni Kakabouki, referred to the progress that the National Team has presented in recent years and emphasized that the most important thing is to do the right work from a young age.

The executive director of the EPO, Iakovos Filippoussis, thanked FIFA and UEFA and separately the representatives of the higher football authorities who were present and present at the event, as well as all the people of the Federation who worked on the strategic plan. She greeted the audience and with the phrase “we believe we are creating a new culture in women’s football”, she proceeded to present the Women’s Football Strategic Plan.
