It has caused a shock in Argentina the news that four Velez Sarsfield footballers are accused of sexually assaulting a 24-year-old girl.
Argentinian duo Brian Koufre and Abel Osorio along with Uruguayan goalkeeper Sebastian Sosa and Paraguayan midfielder Jose Florentin have been ruled out of the squad.
The incident occurred on March 3, when the young woman went to a Hilton hotel room as Sosa’s guest. Once there, he became aware of the presence of the other three. The footballers started drinking alcoholic beverages, while the complainant felt unwell and lay down on one of the beds in the room.
And according to her claims, she was sexually assaulted without her consent. As soon as she felt a little better, she called a taxi to go home. He then filed a lawsuit and the prosecution requested a thorough medical examination.
The management of the Argentine team, where the four players are playing, released the following press release:
“The club has become aware of the complaint of sexual abuse submitted to the Prosecution Unit for Crimes Against Sexual Integrity of the province of Tucuman on March 6 of this year, involving four players from our professional team. Given the seriousness of the complaint, the Board immediately placed itself at the disposal of the judge of Tucuman to provide all relevant information and evidence in order to be able to contribute to the investigation and clarification of the matter, as well as the assignment of responsibilities. Similarly, in the context of the club’s action protocol in cases of gender-based violence, it was decided as a precaution to exclude the four footballers from the team’s activities.”
