Odubajo: “Icing on the cake is a win against PAOK – I would like Toumba to have a crowd”

by

THE Mars is asked to leave behind the qualification to the final of the Betsson Cup and focus on the premiere of the playoffs and the derby of Thessaloniki against PAOK, behind closed doors in Toumba.

In his statements ahead of the big match, the extreme back of the “yellows”, Moses Odubatosaid that a possible victory would be like icing on the cake for Akis Manziou’s team, while he expressed his wish that the “black and white” stadium could have been full of people.

In detail, what Moses Odubajo said to the NOVA camera:

First, when asked in what mood the players of Aris enter the playoffs and how they deal with this process:There is a very good psychological mood in the team. This is how we will enter the first game, against PAOK, but also in the games that will follow.

We are in good shape and it is a shame that there will not be a crowd at the home of our opponent. I would like it to be crowded. The presence of people is always an extra motivation for the players. Both teams had a midweek game so there will be tired legs. However, we are fine and we are going to claim the victory».

On what the goal is in the playoffs for Aris, which is the fact that they have fallen behind the top four in the table, he explained:The goal in the playoffs is to finish as high as possible. We know we have a gap to the team in fourth place, so we will try to collect as many points as we can in the play-off process, close that gap and be good for the Cup final».

When asked if the Mars players view the playoffs as a process that will help the team be ready for the finals, he agreed and added additional facts to the discussion:Indeed, the playoffs will help us prepare for the final. It is a mini-tournament, in which the best teams of the league will play.

More specifically, however, we will play twice against Panathinaikos and this will help us to better study him as an opponent, all the details of his way of playing. In general, there will be games in mostly full stadiums, between the best teams and personally I am looking forward to the upcoming matches with great interest».

In particular, regarding how the Aris players approach the match against PAOK today, he focused on the following:Regardless of the fact that there will be no people in the stadium and the teams will be tired, this derby is different from all games. There won’t be people in the stadium, but the whole city will be watching and everyone will want their team to win.

That’s how we approach the game and we want to go and get the win. If we win in Toumba, it will be like putting the icing on the cake after a very good period that preceded it, with the qualification first against AEK, also the great derby with AEK that preceded it for the championship, but also the qualification afterwards over Panaitolikos in the final of the Cup».
