Xavi: ‘My end has been decided by the team – Barcelona matters’

by

THE Barcelona on Tuesday (12/03, 22:00) he will face Naplesin the rematch for his “16”. Champions League.

The first game had ended in a draw (1-1) and the Catalan team wants the victory to get the ticket to the next phase. THE Xavi spoke at the press conference ahead of the match, while also answering a question about his future in the team.

“If it’s the most important game of the season? Yes that’s how it is. We are ready and excited. It’s been four years since we played in the quarter-finals, we want to compete with an opponent who, although not at his best, has the same base as the team that took the championship last year.

We need a full stadium. There are no favourites, we have a 50% chance of qualifying but the fans can give us a helping hand. Montjuic is like Camp Nou, he should be full and be our 12th man. The fans will have to make some noise and turn Montjuic into a cauldron of speed.” he initially stated and continued:

“Napoli has improved with the new coach. I expect to find a brave team, that plays from the back and pushes high. It has great individual quality, especially in terms of its three forwards. It will be a big match against a big team.

Lobotka? I like him, he knows how to create and never loses the ball. I would like to see him at a club like Barcelona. But we should think about ourselves first. We were better at home to Napoli and we have to be better in Barcelona as well.”

About his future he said: “On Tuesday I will not be important. It will take unity and I will tell the players to have no fear.

We have to take a step forward to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League after four years. The end of my collaboration with the team has been set, but the club is what matters and we should be united.”
