Champions League: Open rematches in Barcelona and London

by

The “puzzle” for his quarter-finals is slowly being completed Champions League.

So, after the tickets that have been checked by Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, four more remain open and will be given the two days that begin.

Two return matches for the round of 16 on Tuesday (12/3), both at 22:00. Barcelona against Naples in Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium and Arsenal against the Porto at the “Emirates” in London, with the case of qualification being open to both pairs after the results of the first matches.

On February 21 in Naples, the team of the same name drew 1-1 with the Catalans. Xavi’s team took the lead in the 60th minute with Lewandowski’s perfect finish and had the chances for a bigger lead. However, it saw Osimen take advantage of Inigo Martinez’s inactivity to set up the final score in the 75th minute.

From the victory (1-0) against Mallorca comes Barcelona (in 3rd place in La Liga and -8 behind the leader Real Madrid). Another disappointment for Napoli, 7th in Serie A, who last Friday (8/3) drew 1-1 against Torino.

Possible compositions:

Barcelona (Xavi): Ter Stegen – Coute, Araújo, Coubarsi, Cancelo – Fermin Lopez, Christensen, Guidogan – Yamal, Lewandowski, Rafinha.

Napoli (Francesco Calzona): Meret – Di Lorenzo, Rahmani, Jesus, Olivera – Angisa, Lobotka, Traore – Politano, Osimen, Kvaratshelia.

On the same day in Porto, the “dragons” -coming (also) from the recent five-pointer (5-0) to their great rival, Benfica- not only… extinguished Arsenal’s game, but hitting in the 90’+4′ with the “masterpiece” of Galeno took, albeit a slight, qualification lead (1-0) ahead of tonight.

Of course, the “gunners” are a very quality team, capable of overturning, as they prove in the Premier League. There, where – after the draw in Liverpool-Manchester City and their own victory (2-1) over Brentford – they are tied at the top with the “reds” being at +1 from the “citizens”. Hence the “Emirates” match is awaited with great interest.

Possible compositions:

Arsenal (Mikel Arteta): Raya – White, Saliba, Magallanes, Kivior – Odegaard, Rice, Jorginho – Saka, Havertz, Trossard.

Porto (Sergio Conceição): Diogo Costa – Joao Mario, Ottavio, Pepe, Weddell – Nico Gonzalez, Varela, Conceição – Galeno, Evanilsson, Pepe.

The two games will be televised by Cosmote Sport 2 HD and Cosmote Sport 3 HDrespectively, while there will be a live update from sport-fm.gr.

It is reminded that the away goal rule does not apply. In the event of an overall tied result after the final and the second games, a half-hour overtime will follow and, if necessary, the penalty shootout.

On Wednesday (13/3, 22:00) the last matches for the round of 16 will take place, with Atletico Madrid-Inter Milan (1-0 win for the Italian team at Giuseppe Meazza) and Dortmund-Eindhofen (1-1 the first match).
