Staikos on bwinSPORT FM: “I believe that PAS can succeed, the championship will be decided in the details”

About PAS Ioannina’s battle to stay in the Stoiximan Super League, Thanasis Staikos spoke to News Bulletin 247, among others.

At the same time, the Greek coach also focused on the image of this year’s championship, which is particularly competitive at the top but also at the “tail”, while he emphasized that everything will be decided in one detail, at the end of the season.

Among other things, Thanasis Staikos spoke to Manolis Mousourakis about:

– the battle of the playouts and the situation in PAS Ioannina: “Just like last season, this year too, we see how it will be a battle until the end. As for PAS, because I was there for a year and a half and because the coaches plan in circles, I believed and still believe that he can succeed.

Last year we had the same first round as this year and we managed to stay in the category, but this year in the second round he didn’t collect the points he should have and that’s why he’s in a difficult position. With a win, however, he will enter strongly again in the claim of his stay. We generally see the teams changed, like Volos, which has changed its image with Mr. Conti».

– this year’s championship: “The approach and the new generations of coaches play a role, but also the whole atmosphere of football, since the stimuli we have are not like 20 years ago. This year and last year, I think are our most competitive leagues, both at the top and for the stay.

All the big teams are at the same level and the competition between them is great, while at the same time the small teams have their own improvement. There is no favorite for the top, since in the last matches we see that there are changes for the first place. It will be decided on the day where the players and teams are, as a game can be decided by one detail. As it happened last year, after all…».

– the footballers he has singled out: “We could talk about many players. Certainly those who are in the spotlight, and they are also Greeks, are Constantelias and Koulierakis of PAOK, who are footballers who are worthy and have great talent. Lately a player I’ve had for quite some time, Pelios, shows that the future belongs to him and I hope he continues. Fortunis of Olympiakos is a constant value. There are footballers in all teams, Bakaseta’s return to Greece for Panathinaikos. We like to see Greek players in our teams.”

-players who could have a good career in the Greek league, such as Tsiloulis who ended up at AEK: “There are always players, like Tsiloulis who is having a very good championship with Lamia, who deservedly entered the playoffs. From there, in the second group, as Pelios was and this year there are some children, although this route is not easy. I think there are also kids in Volos who were in the playoffs last season. Like Sielis, a good defender with speed, and I think he could go to one of the big teams.”
