Christovasilis: “The priority is saving the team – There has never been a proposal for PAS”

I called you here today at a difficult time for our team. Many of you may think that the timing is wrong, with PAS Ioannina unfortunately in a difficult position… However, this is exactly the bottom line: We don’t hide in difficult times. We are here to come forward and talk about what has happened. We do not hesitate to take on the responsibilities assigned to us, but at the same time we send a message that we are here to fight with all our strength and to support the efforts of the coach and the players in this battle they are fighting.

There’s this special weight and pressure to prove that you’re going to look worthy of the work you’re taking on. I’ve never been someone who likes the limelight. Actions are what matter. If I had even the slightest doubt about my future and presence in the team, I would not even enter this process.

Others would get scared and go into the process of immediate disengagement from the commons of the group. But that would be the easy solution. Sixteen years in the team, the Christovasilis family has proven that it is not just for the easy, and has proven it with actions. And I repeat the same as my father’s successor. My motivation remains strong and my actions prove it.

If I had decided to leave I would not have solved a perennial problem we faced with the auxiliary fields, two fields that you are happy to see, but neither would we have tried to solve every sudden problem that presented itself to us like with the lights in the 1st game Even with the cameras and their placement in the Zosimados stadium.

But I am not that kind of person and that is why I stand here before you to answer your questions honestly and give the answers you ask for.

Mistakes were made, and many, which weigh heavily on me personally. It’s not only the one who doesn’t try who makes a mistake, and I try to learn from these mistakes. That’s why I’m here to do my self-criticism. I know that the team’s ranking situation is not ideal. That’s why I here in front of everyone want to send a message that we will do everything to get the team out of the difficult situation and that’s why I’m asking for your undivided support, without asterisks, from the last fan of the team to the most important rulers of the city so that at the end of the season the team is in the Super League.

The Christovasili family has never hidden, even in the most difficult times, even when the team was relegated twice. But both times we did our best and got the team back to where it belongs. Even in the inevitable scenario of relegation, I will be here to build a new team that will come back even stronger.

At the same time, I would like from this step to put a definitive end to the various rumors that have been circulating lately and concern scenarios about the sale of the team. From 2012 until today, absolutely no official proposal for the transfer of the shares has arrived at the PAE offices and as my father had also stated, we are here and we are waiting and if someone ever comes who will have a plan and vision for to raise PAS Ioannina to a higher level we will be open to any discussion for the good of the club. But I repeat, and I hope I don’t have to repeat, that we have never received an official proposal and there is no interest at the moment.
