George Vasilakopoulos is Honorary President of the EEC

The Annual General Meeting of EEC decided, following his proposal Vangelis Lioliouto proclaim him Giorgos Vasilakopoulos as honorary president of the federation. Thus it was decided by the current management of the EEC as well as its member unions that he be honored for his contribution to Greek basketball the predecessor of Mr. Lioliou at the head of the federation for a number of years.

In a particularly symbolic move, today the body of Unions that belongs to the power of the EEC, accepted the proposal of the president Vangelis Liolios and the Board of Directors of the EEC, to declare George Vasilakopoulos as honorary president of the Federation!

The current president’s proposal for his predecessor was submitted during the Annual General Assembly held in the building of the Hellenic Olympic Committee and was voted in favor amid a multitude of positive comments.

Adhering to the saying “he who does not honor his past has no future”, Vangelis Liolios estimated that the long-term contribution of Giorgos Vasilakopoulos to Greek basketball and his substantial contribution to his rapid rise among the world’s leaders, was the guide for many and should to be remembered.

The former president addressed the body via an online call and visibly moved by the great honor spoke of “administrative magnificence of the current administration”.
