End credits: St Panteleimon disbanded

by

After nine years, the St. Panteleimon doesn’t exist anymore…

The group of the Greek Orthodox community of Harrow, London is to be disbanded due to financial difficulties, with the president of the club, George Frantzescuto announce the bad news via social media.

Analytically:

“St Panteleimon was founded in 2015, as a church group created to help the underprivileged and those who faced difficulties in their youth. The aim was to become a football platform for them to come together, interact and find a common goal through the ball, something more positive, a new beginning.

St Panteleimon began their journey playing in the Sunday League and it quickly became clear through their performances that the group represented something special.

After winning the title in the first year, the decision was made to enter the English football pyramid and get approval from the FA. We entered Middlesex County Division A and took the league undefeated while also doing the double.

We were promoted to the Premiership and went unbeaten for two calendar years, winning the double again.

We were promoted to the Spartan South Midlands Premiership Division and would have been promoted to the Isthmian if the season had not been canceled by the coronavirus. An inspiring story, with the humblest of beginnings.

At this point in time, without our stadium, the financial requirements cannot be met. It is with great regret that we announce that St Panteleimon will be dissolved with immediate effect, we have informed the league. We want to thank everyone who supported us these nine years, the players, past and present, for the wonderful moments and the success story that we hope will inspire others.

St Panteleimon wishes all clubs the best. Our proudest achievements: Four championships, three Cups, one unbeaten season, a two-year unbeaten streak.”
