Both Markos Akunia and Quique Sanchez Flores in Sevilla vs Getafe in Madrid (0-1). The Argentinian full-back was called a “monkey” by a section of the stand and the Andalusian coach a “gypsy”. The Spanish coach referred to what happened.

First, I want to say that I am proud of every pore in my veins that can breathe gypsy. But it’s one thing to be a gypsy and another to use it as a racial slur. I find it abhorrent. Serious action must be taken, our players have also suffered, I am against any racist slogan“, he said.

The coach of Getafe, Jose Bordalas, agreed that serious measures must be taken in order to stop the racist slogans. “I agree that the protocol has been activated. If the referee and in this case Akunya heard it (including the insult), it was good that they stopped the matchhe said at the press conference.

We condemn the racist and xenophobic insults suffered by Markos Akunia and our coaching staffSevilla emphasized in a post on X (formerly Twitter), while LaLiga added in a statement:There is no place for racist or hateful behavior in sport.
