Besides, the Athens First Instance Prosecutor’s Office was forwarded the 200 page conclusion of the President of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority, Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court e.t. Charalambos Vourliotis, where revealed the largest illegal betting ring, which has been operating in our country since 2012in which well-known former international footballers and coaches are involved, as well as players from SL1, SL2 teams, as well as small amateur and local league teams.
As revealed by “Trial in the Open”the case for the circuit through which illegal money was trafficked, exceeding 1 billion euros, was taken over by the sports and football prosecutor Kostas Spyropouloswho has already started a preliminary investigation, to establish the crimes allegedly committed by the approx. 60 involvedso that – depending on the evidence in the case file – he can bring criminal charges.
The new illegal betting ring has no relation to the Greek version of the international illegal betting ring, involving more than 30, for which Mr. Spyropoulos is completing the investigation.
