Hines: “Spanoulis is a basketball genius – Natural evolution to take over a team”

by

His former center Olympiakou and now of Armani Milano, Kyle Hinesspoke to Basketball Sphere, where among other things he mentioned what he learned from all his teammates and of course Vasilis Spanoulis.

In detail what he said:

On what he learned from his teammates: “I learned a little bit from everyone. Starting from Olympiakos and Vassilis Spanoulis, from whom I learned about work ethic, about what it means to be a leader, to Milos Teodosic, from whom I learned what kind of approach I should have and how to read the game.

Sergio Rodriguez and Nando De Colo helped me understand what it means to be consistent. Then I played with Chacho again in Milan, as well as Vladimir Mitsov, Malcolm Delaney and Savon Shields, who I play with today. Everyone helped me and I got a little bit from everyone. It was one of the most important things for my career.

I always wanted to play with great EuroLeague players like Dimitris Diamantidis or Thodoris Papaloukas. Two great point guards, who made life easier for centers at the time. They are two players I would have liked to have had the opportunity to play with.”

For Spanoulis: “Everybody who knows him, who has talked to him, knows he’s a basketball genius. The natural progression was that a group would take over, to share the knowledge with younger generations. I’m happy for him. I know how much Greece means to him, how much it meant to him to play for Greece. It’s something huge, something he really cares about. I know he will do a good job.”
