“Eternal” derby act… second with title background!
Olympiacos and Panathinaikos cross their “swords” in the “Melina Merkouri” indoor gym (17:45, EPT-3, sport-fm.gr) for the second final of the Volley League in a match that will largely determine the outcome of the title and this year’s champion.
The “red and white” lead with 1-0 in the seriessince in the first match they managed to do it break at the home of their “eternal” rival with the emphatic 3-0 set, which was however decided on points.
The Greek Cup winners do not face further absences other than the usual ones, of Allen Pagenk and Nikos Zoupanis and they want to take a significant lead for the title, having “allied” their world.
The coach of Olympiakos, Daniel Castellanistated: “Tomorrow, (so today) is another final, the team is fine. We want to show a good face, like in the first match, when our image was very positive. However, the most important thing now is to forget the first match and be ready for a different game. Because tomorrow’s match will be different. Most likely, the opponent will change some things, we have to be ready to understand what will be the key for this final. The team has trained very well, we have worked and we are ready for the second final against Panathinaikos”.
On the other side, the “greens” worked methodically, in order to bring the series to an even level and… transfer the advantage back to their own levels in view of the third final at Metz. The “clover” in the first match was, essentially, “betrayed” by its mistakes which gave 24 points to the opponenta number which is… unacceptable for a match of this level.
“Guide” for his team Dimitris Andreopoulou is the good tradition he has built in recent years at Rentis, since from the 2019-20 season until today it counts seven wins in the last 11 matches including his first semi-final Challenge Cup of the last season.
