A little while before the opening of its History Museum AEKthe one of its basic coefficients, Gerasimos Gasparinatosspoke to News Bulletin 247 for the specific creation.
In fact, he confided –speaking to Christos Sotirakopoulos– how difficult it was to collect the “yellow and black” relics, since almost everything was lost when the old Union stadium in New Philadelphia was torn down.
“The museum it has essentially been made by her people, the AEK family, her veterans. I was the coordinator, it was a project, which gave me joy“, he initially reported.
When asked when the Museum will be available to the public, he said:It opens today for the press, in a few days it will open for the public. The date will be announced by PAEwe don’t know the date yet».
Giving information about the location of the Museum, he said: “There is a building adjacent to the stadium, in the square of the biceps. This building houses both Museums. On the 3rd floor is the History Museum of AEK, on the 1st is the Museum of Refugee Hellenism. It is worth the world to visit, to combine these two».
When asked about how difficult it was to create the Museum:In the case of AEK it was perhaps a bit more difficult to create than other clubs. We had wronged ourselves. In 2003 almost everything was lost when the old stadium was demolished. Lost photos, objects, documents. Everything that existed was lost, we were at about zero when the effort to collect the exhibits began. It’s unthinkable. For example, when Panathinaikos starts to build the Museum, it will not be in this situation and I wish no club to find itself where we were. That was our misfortune, our luck was that people embraced the effort, the whole family. We managed to collect material from all seasons of AEK. So we overcame the handicap»
Regarding the contents of the Museum, he said:Emphasis has been placed on the football section, but there is reference to the other sections as well. There is an extensive area of course in basketball, which will build its own Museum».
As for the rarest of the items on the field: “I can’t name an object, there is the cornerstone of the first important works on the AEK plot then. They then allowed AEK to use it in 1938. Not many people know this. There are important jerseys. Nestorides, Papaioannou, but also opponents, such as Puskas. There are important exhibits from the 1920s. It is for me the most exciting period in the history of AEK. With all that is behind, with the uprooting, the new beginning of these people in old Greece. Its first charter and it is the only surviving copy».
