The draw of Panathinaikos in the Europe Trophy Grand Final men’s table tennis

Panathinaikos is now the sole representative of the Greek table tennis clubs in this year’s European Cups and the big challenge in the men’s Europe Trophy awaits them at the beginning of the summer. The third-ranked European club competition will also close this year’s program with the so-called Europe Trophy Grand Final.

It will be held simultaneously for men and women in Novi Sad, Serbia from 31/05 to 02/06 and Panathinaikos is aiming for a high distinction. The draw has been made and it initially pits him against Roznava of Slovakia and De Beers Taverzo of the Netherlands in the second group. In the final, 12 men’s and eight women’s teams have the right to participate.

Four groups of four were created for the men in the final stage of the event. The leader is the Spanish Arteal in the first, Roznava in the second, the Italian Santa Tecla Nulvi in the third and Eskilstuna from Sweden in the fourth.

Slovakia has three men’s teams, France, Netherlands, Spain, Serbia, Croatia, Sweden, Italy, Finland and Greece one each.

Panathinaikos had qualified for the Europe Trophy Grand Final in December, taking first place in Malta in Group A of Region 4 with the absolute number of victories. This year’s large participation also brought an increase in the number of teams in the final.

In March 2023, when Olympiacos hosted and celebrated the men’s Europe Trophy Grand Final at SEF, eight teams competed in the final stage.

Let us also remember that in the inaugural year of the competition, in the period 2021-2022, Panathinaikos won the Women’s Cup.
