Gold Serelis, bronze Giannadaki and a total of seven medals for Greece at the Mediterranean Bowling Championship

Seven medals, with two gold, three silver and two bronze, was her impressive tally National team bowling at the 2024 MBC Mediterranean Championship, which concluded on Saturday (27/04) in Rome.

The Greek quartet, consisting of Nikos Serelis and Yannis Xydas in men and by women Alexandra Giannadaki and Georgia Sagona in the women, closed her successful presence in the “Eternal City” by winning two medals in the Masters events.

In the Men’s MastersNikos Serelis triumphed and put the ideal finale to the event by winning the gold medal, with successive victories against the Italian Luca Mitsike with a total score of 411-376 in the two games of the quarter-finals (225-192, 186-184), the Cypriot Nikolas Christofis with 399-317 in the semi-finals (226-175, 173-142) and the French Enzo Bergamino with 357-345 in the final (173-175, 184-170).

Greece also made it to the podium in the Women’s Masters, with Alexandra Giannadaki winning the bronze medal, after advancing to the top four by beating Malta’s Titiana Karanante with a total score of 413-360 over the two games (215-192, 198-168), while in then she was defeated by the Slovenian Eva Krafogel with 436-364 (257-188, 179-176).

Georgia Sagona also participated in the Masters Women’s eight, who lost in the quarter-finals to the Slovenian Maja Debenec with 353-343 (195-177, 158-166) and was out of the medals.

In the events of the previous days, gold medal was won by Serelis / Xydas in Men’s Duets, silver medals were won by Giannadaki in Women’s Individual, Giannadaki / Sagona in Women’s Duets and Serelis / Sagona in Mixed Duets, while a bronze medal was also won Serelis in the Men’s Individual.

With the tally of seven medals at this year’s Mediterranean Bowling Championship, Greece has reached 130 medals in its history in the event (40 gold – 41 silver – 49 bronze) and remains the country with the largest total of medals ahead of Malta, which he has three fewer total wins (127) but is outmatched in gold medals won (43-41-43).

They participated in the organization of the Italian capital 54 athletes and gymnasts from 14 countries.
