Para-Taekwondo: Second medal for Greece at the European Championships in Belgrade

Another medal, this time silver, was won by the Greek team at the end of the European Para Taekwondo Championships, held in Belgrade.

Two podiums for the two Greek athletes of EAOM-AmA, as well as after the gold medal won by Christina Gentzou, yesterday (Saturday 11/5), in the category K44 at – 65kg, today (Sunday, 12/5) is the last day of the event, Eleni Papastamatopoulou in the same category K44 at +65k, she also climbed to the second step of the podium.

Papastamatopoulou, after winning the gold medal at the European Qualification Tournament and qualifying for the Paralympic Games in Paris, won another medal in a major event, although she competed with a sprained ankle. She first beat Jelena Rasic, from the host Serbia, 13-11 and in the semi-final she easily beat the Spanish Dalla Moreno 11-5, who “shared” the bronze medal with the Moroccan Raja Akermas.

In the final, being with the injury problem, against the “silver” para-Olympic champion (at +58k in Tokyo) Amy Truesdale, from Great Britain, the Greek champion lost the gold in the details and finally took the 2nd place and the silver medal.

Along with the two “golden” champions in the capital of Serbia were coach Vassilis Zikos and trainer Evangelia Vangeloglou.
