Fatih Terim announced his departure from Panathinaikos with a statement on his Instagram profile. The Turkish coach states that in yesterday’s meeting with Giannis Alafouzos, it was established that the plans of the two sides for the planning for the new season did not coincide. As a result of this it was decided that the partnership will not continue.
Fatih Terim’s statement:
Since last December, my team and I have been doing our best at PAE Panathinaikos, with all our strength, to finish the 2023-2024 season as champions and make Panathinaikos fans live happily which unfortunately he was gone for 13 years. Yesterday afternoon, President Alafouzos and I met and assessed the situation together, upon which we saw that our plans for the 2024-2025 season were not aligned. As a result of this meeting, it was decided that our business relationship will not continue.
I especially thank the Panathinaikos fans who embraced us during the six months we spent in Athens, the President Giannis Alafouzos, as well as the club staff and I am also grateful to the football community here, who expressed their love and respect for the team and me at every opportunity. I sincerely wish Panathinaikos a successful future.

A few minutes after Fatih Terim’s statement, the official announcement came from PAE Panathinaikos, which formalized the “divorce” with the Turkish technician.

The Turkish technician worked for six months at Trifylli. In total, he guided our team in 26 games, recording 14 wins, six draws, six losses and the qualification to the final of the Greek Cup.
