Final titles for Filip Djuricic in the national team of Serbia.
His midfielder Panathinaikou announced that he will not wear the shirt of his country again, saying that it is time to say goodbye (on a competitive level) to national of Serbia.
He did not fail to thank those he worked with, the people for their support, while he emphasized that the World Cup of 2022 was the crowning glory of his career.
His post in detail:
“Somehow… My journey started in 2002…
I defended my country’s honor in all the junior divisions and with the captain’s armband in hand, I led my team-mates through all the major competitions.
I was waiting for that day to play with the best Serbian footballers. I remember my debut like it was yesterday, and it’s been more than 12 years.
I spent a lot with my teammates and with friends from the national team. Both good and less good.
In the national team of Serbia I felt a feeling that cannot be compared to anything else – a feeling of pride, while wearing the holy coat of arms on the shirt and defending the honor of Serbia and its people.
The World Cup in Qatar is the crown of my career and I am infinitely proud to have been part of the generation that after 24 years led our Serbia to the European Championship.
It’s hard for me, but I know it has to be. It’s time to say goodbye to the Serbian national team, to say goodbye, but only on the field.
I want to thank all my teammates who, even for a moment, were part of the Serbian national team. It was an honor to share the locker room and the field with you. For better or for worse!
I thank all the coaches, but also all the people in and around the Football Federation of Serbia, those who are mostly out of the public eye, but without whom not a single success would have been possible.
Thank you, Serbs, thank you fans for being with us.
I gave everything I could on the field. Sometimes it could definitely be better, but know that I always did my best.
Good luck to you, and I’ll be cheering you on, cheering loudly, and eagerly awaiting your new victories. Serbia!”
