Greece also won the gold medal in the 4th Pan-European Police Women’s Basketball Championshipwhich was hosted in Two Aorakia of Heraklion.
The Greek team beat France 49-48 in the final and reached the two conquests of this title by taking the scepter from France. It is worth pointing out that the same pair also faced each other in the 2015 final in La Rochelle, France.
The third place was won by the Belgian team, which beat Slovakia 57-49. The most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament was Antigoni Hairistanidou, who plays for Panathinaikos.
The 4th Pan-European Women’s Police Basketball Championship was organized by the Police Sports Association of Greece at the Indoor Gymnasium of Nea Alikarnassos, Municipality of Heraklion, with the Region of Crete, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Religion and with the support of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the Hellenic Federation Basketball, the Hellenic Police Headquarters and the Union of Basketball Associations of Crete and in which, in addition to the Greek team, the representative teams of Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Iceland, Hungary and Slovakia participated.
