And officially now George Baldock it belongs to Panathinaikos from today. PAE announced today the start of the cooperation with the international full-back who signed a contract until June 2027.
“PAE Panathinaikos announces the acquisition of George Baldock. The Greek international will wear the shirt with the Shamrock on the chest until June 2027″states the relevant PAE announcement, in which there are also his first statements as a player of the clover.
“I wanted to change teams and goals, after seven years at Sheffield. Essentially, I was looking for a great opportunity in my career and Panathinaikos gave it to me”were the first words of Baldock who continued:
“When I learned of the interest of Panathinaikos, I was excited and basically everything happened very quickly, without any special negotiations. Something worked inside me that gave me a particularly positive aura about Panathinaikos’ outlook. It probably relates to the stories of my father, who has Greek roots and the first football game he watched in his life was at the home of Panathinaikos in a league match. He had spoken to me in the best words about my new team. I could have gone to other leagues, but I chose Panathinaikos because I want to play in a leading team, to win titles, to play in European competitions.” concluded.
George Baldock was born in Buckingham, England on March 9, 1993 and has Greek roots on his father’s side, hence the possibility of participating in the Greek National Team. He took his first football steps in Milton Keynes Dons, a team where he made his debut in May 2010 in a game against Brighton. With the shirt of Milton Kane Dons, he recorded 107 appearances and two goals while playing there until 2017. In these seven years, he also played on loan at the English Northampton, Tamworth, Oxford United and the Icelandic Vestmaneja.
In 2017 he was transferred to Sheffield United where he made 219 appearances (83 of them in the Premier League), scored 6 goals and provided 16 assists. To his credit, he has participated in the semi-final of the FA Cup in 2023 and two promotions from the Championship to the Premier League. He is an active international with our National team, having recorded 12 appearances.
