Koulierakis: “We made history, Savvidis was always behind us – I am honored by the interest from the Bundesliga”

How do you feel about being champions of Greece for the first time?

“It really is something unique. Dominating the most exciting title race of all time in Greece is an experience that is hard to describe. We made history. I am extremely proud to have played an active role in winning this title, the first major title of my career. I am also proud of my teammates and everyone in the team because we were able to give our fans this great joy».

What was the advantage over the three competitors AEK, Olympiakos and Panathinaikos?

“Basically, our biggest asset is the family atmosphere that exists around the team. We have a lot to thank our coach Razvan Lucescu, who left his mark on the team, and also the owner Ivan Savvidis, because he was always behind us. They gave us the security we needed. There were definite transfer talks with Eintracht in the winter. Will this continue in the summer?

“Of course I am aware of Eintracht’s interest. But my representative takes care of all these matters. I have a contract with PAOK, but of course it’s nice to be targeted by big teams from the top European leagues».

According to information from the kicker, Eintracht are currently not the only Bundesliga team with a strong interest in your signature. Would you be interested in a move to the Bundesliga?

“It is a great honor. After all, there is a long list of Greek players in Germany. The Greek element is strong throughout the country and this helps an athlete to adapt. I also experienced it intensively in our game in Frankfurt and the thousands of PAOK fans who supported us with passion».

A match in which you also shone as a scorer, although as a central defender you have other qualities. In your 20s, the only thing you lack is experience?

“In static phases I go forward and it worked well against Frankfurt. That’s how I was able to score the winning goal. Otherwise, it’s my job to be aggressive in duels. I also like possession and helping to build the game from the back. However, I have regularly matured and become better at my decisions on the court».

Although at a young age you are already one of the top footballers both in your club and in the national team? Do you feel like you are an exception in the league?

“I don’t want to be the exception. Act more as an example for every Greek club so that young players can be introduced earlier. PAOK believed in me and gave me the opportunity to play. I seized the opportunity and created corresponding expectations for the future».

Next Friday, Greece will play Germany. After missing out on Euro 2024, what are your goals for the upcoming games against Germany and Malta?

“The upcoming friendlies of the national team are extremely important for us. We want to regain our confidence after the painful elimination from the European Championship finals.
