Panathinaikos for the first time in the Europe Trophy Grand Final men’s table tennis

by

In 2022, the inaugural year of the third tier of the European Club Cup, the club’s women’s team had won the trophy. This year he wants the men’s division to reach the same success and clearly he can do it given that he goes to Novi Sad with all his main weapons. He will line up with the French European champion, Emmanuel Lebesson, Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos, Konstantinos Angelakis, as well as the Swedish international, Victor Brod, who will wear the team’s jersey for the first time this year.

Lefteris Makras will be in technical guidance, and team manager Tasos Symeonidis will also be in charge.

Twelve teams have been divided into four groups in the Men’s Europe Trophy Grand Finals. Panathinaikos has been drawn in the second group with rivals Slovakian Roznava (leader) and Dutch Taverzo. Qualifying first in the eight is his initial goal.

There are eight entries in the respective women’s competitions.

After the results of stage 1 in the winter, the best teams from a total of eight regions gather this week at the “Beocin” sports center next to Novi Sad for the Europe Trophy Grand Finals for both men and women.

The organizers also give great importance to the event, they even organized a press conference and spoke to the media. The tournament is organized by the table tennis club Radnicki 1972 with the support of the municipality of Beocin.

According to the president of the municipality of Beocin, Biljana JANKOVIC, this event “being held for the first time in Serbia and featuring excellent players, is another opportunity for Beocin to show its hospitality and sportsmanship during the games. In addition to the large number of competitors, sports workers and volunteers will participate.”

All matches will have live streaming.

Panathinaikos had qualified for the Europe Trophy Grand Final in December, taking the first place in Malta in Group A of Region 4 with the absolute victory. Its additional motivation is not only to add a possible first place next to that of the women’s team of the association , but also to continue for Greece in the men’s Europe Trophy titles. In March 2023, Olympiacos hosted the grand final and celebrated the trophy at the SEF. It will also be something historic for the country’s table tennis to come first in a row for men and third overall in the institution.

Athletes Angelakis, Konstantinopoulos, along with Makra and Symeonidis left Athens and Lebesson, traveling from France, will meet them in Serbia. On Saturday morning, Broad will join the team.
