Panathinaikos: Tradition in its favor and Olympiacos looking for the first after 31 years

Panathinaikos and Olympic are facing each other in the finals of the Stoiximan Basket League and the “red and white” will attempt to do something they have achieved only once in their history and that was 31 years ago: to win a championship with a home advantage.

The teams that had the home advantage have won 24 of the 30 championships, i.e. 80%. In 8 finals with a home advantage, Panathinaikos has won 7 titles, while in “eternal” finals it has won the championship 5 times with a home disadvantage.

Seven of the finals series have been decided by sweeps (3-0), another 13 have gone to a fifth game (3-2), while the teams that won the first game of the series have gone on to take the championship in 24 of the 30 previous times. In the 20 “eternal” finals, the team that took Game 1 took the championship 15 times.
