The Princess of Wales, who has been in the spotlight with her husband Prince William, “may never go back to the royal duties she had before,” a source told Us Weekly Tuesday, citing Page Six.

The source added that Kate is currently “reassessing what she will be able to take on when she returns” after undergoing preventative chemotherapy to treat cancer.

“This of course came as a huge shock to us. William and I are doing everything we can to process and manage it privately for the sake of our family,” Kate Middleton said in the video posted on the official account of the British royal family.

Additionally, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams noted that when Middleton is able to return to her royal duties “she will follow medical advice and her schedule will be very carefully balanced.”

Page Six has reached out to Kensington Palace for comment. However, he received no response.

The news comes after a source told The Daily Beast that she may not appear in public to represent the royal family for the rest of 2024.

Kate Middleton, 42, has largely stayed out of the public eye since January, when she underwent “scheduled” abdominal surgery and was diagnosed with cancer.

The royal family has remained tight-lipped about her health as conspiracy theories about her well-being, cheating claims and divorce speculation have been rampant. However, on March 22, she revealed that her absence was due to a recent cancer diagnosis, without explaining what type of cancer it was.

As the Princess of Wales remains out of the public eye, William returned to royal duties in April.

“It was such a relief that he is tolerating the medication and is actually doing much better,” said a family friend.

Despite the positive outcome, it remains unclear whether the mother-of-three will take part in the British monarchy’s annual Trooping the Color celebrations, set for June 15.
