At Atromitos and Carlitos: “I came to do something great”

PAE Atromitos is pleased to announce the signing of Carlos Daniel Lopez Huesca, known as Carlitos, for the next two years.

Carlitos was born on June 12, 1990 in Alicante, Spain and plays as a striker.

He took his first football steps from the Academies of Elche and after a stint in the lower divisions of Spain, in 2012 he competed for the first time abroad, specifically in Russia with the jersey of Petrotrest Saint Petersburg.

In 2017, he took the big step in his career, as he played for Wisla Krakow, having an excellent season (2017/18), after becoming the league’s top scorer with 24 goals in 36 appearances, while also winning the most valuable player award.

The following summer he was acquired by Legia Warsaw, adding another outstanding season to his career, scoring 20 goals and providing seven assists in 45 appearances, leading to a move to Al Wahda of the United Arab Emirates.

In the summer of 2020 he played for the first time in our country, wearing the jersey of Panathinaikos, with whom he scored 18 goals in 70 appearances and in the summer of 2022 he returned to Poland again for Legia Warsaw.

In the summer of 2023, he returned to our country on behalf of Lamia and led its course in the top six, having 10 goals, four assists in 22 appearances.

After the formal completion of the agreement, Karlitos, who chose and took the number “10”, made his first statements on atromitosfc.gr:

“First of all, I want to thank the president, Mr. Spanos and the Technical Director, Yiannis Angelopoulos, who during this time made a great effort to make the transfer happen.

I am very happy about today’s development. It was an easy decision, especially when I saw how much Atromitos wanted me. I am truly honored to be here and I was especially happy for the gift they gave me for my daughters. These jerseys were truly something special.

In general, Greece is like my home, as it is similar to Spain and at the same time the people here, in this country, make me feel very nice, always feel welcome. I also spoke to Ender during this time and he told me the best about the team, so there was no second thought.

I also spoke with the coach, Mr. Garcia, he explained to me the whole plan he has for me and the fact that he was so clear was decisive for my decision.

I remember that my last match in Greece before I left was here in Peristeri and I was really moved by the fact that the people of Atromitos also applauded me. I have only fond memories of our team’s fans and I really look forward to repaying their trust and love that they have shown me.

In fact, I remember even outside the stadium, at the moment when I was leaving for the airport, many friends of Atromitos spoke to me with the best words, wished me the best, we took pictures and it was really wonderful”.

For personal and team goals: “The motivation for me is always the goal we have. We have to have pressure to achieve the goal. In all jobs and not only in football, we must do everything with love. I came here to do something great. For me the important thing is to be high in the standings and to be in the first six teams. This team, Atromitos with what they have achieved in the past, should be in the top six and they deserve to be in the top six”.

For the training center: “It’s really great. When you get into it you realize that some people really love this team. It’s like a second home here for the footballers, it has excellent facilities and is modern.”
