In Malmö, Sweden, the draw for the groups of table tennis took place at noon on Thursday, which is traditionally done about a month before the start of the annual event (this year it will start at 12 and end on 21/07). In the process, our Under 19 and Under 15 National teams also learned about their opponents.
The boys compete in the A’ division of Europe after the promotion they secured in last year’s championship, while the rest of our representative groups continue in the B’ division.
41 countries have declared their participation in the junior team, with Romania number 1 in the favorites and Poland, Germany and France following it. Greece is in the tenth group, i.e. the sixth and last of the B category. The leader is Norway and, also, rivals Bosnia and Malta.
In the junior team there are 36 teams divided into eight groups. Poland, Germany, France and Romania are in the first places of the A’ division groups, in order. Greece went to the seventh group, the third of the B’ division. They will face Slovenia (leader), Switzerland, Israel and Scotland.
In the children’s team, the entries reached 38. The title holder is Portugal, but the leader in the seeding is Poland based on the European evaluation table of the athletes (also present at Europe Youth in Loutraki in April). Italy, Romania and the Czech Republic follow.
Greece was number 13 in the seeding, would definitely be drawn from the fourth series and eventually found itself in the first group. He will meet Poland, France and Germany.
In the girls’ team, 33 countries declared, with Germany, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic being the first favorites. From the second series of seeding for the B’ division draw, our national group was in the sixth group with rivals Croatia (leader), Lithuania and Wales.
The team always opens the program of the European Championship and this year it will take place July 12-16.
