Panathinaikos AKTOR completed one of the best seasons in its history in an impressive way, after defeating Olympiakos 87-82 in the packed OAKA and also winning the Greek championship, after Euroleague.
One of the important contributors to the path of the “greens” towards recognition was Marius Grigoniswho may not have made his presence felt as much in the finals, but he had a decisive contribution in the first part of the season.
The Lithuanian is one of the few who lived the “cloverleaf” both at the… very low, last year, and at the top this season. After the triumph over him Olympiakouspoke to sport-fm.gr and Alexandros Tsirigotis about his feelings, fatigue, but also what led the “greens” to the title.
His statements in detail:
Congratulations on another title. You must feel exhausted.
“Yes, it was a very long season, but to win two very important titles makes it very nice. But you know, you want to relax a little. The year is over and we are happy to have won.”
Of course, you won’t relax too much, you have immediate obligations with Lithuania.
“Yes, I have a few more days, hopefully more, we’ll see.”
You did something that has only been done once, to come back from 2-0 down in a series. How did you do it?
“First of all, it was our fault that we lost the first game because we were too relaxed. In the second they were much better, but after that we found our motivation again to win the next three matches.”
You are one of the few who experienced Panathinaikos at the “bottom” last season, but also at the top this year. How do you feel about this transition?
“It’s more fun to be at the top than at the bottom. Honestly, I don’t think about it anymore, I’m happy and I want to enjoy it without looking back.”
